Volunteer

Becoming a Director

There are several directorships for the Waterloo Engineering Competition.

Junior and Senior Design: Junior and Senior Design directors are in charge of creating their problem statement, purchasing shop materials, organizing judges and hosting the competition on the competition day. If you would like to become a junior or senior design director, you must apply through the Engineering Society website.

Consulting: Consulting directors are in charge of creating their problem statement, organizing judges and hosting the competition on the competition day. If you would like to become a consulting director, you must apply through the Engineering Society website.

Logistics: Logistics directors are responsible for advertising, recruitment, registration, and top-level competition logistics. If you would like to become a logistics director, you must apply through the Engineering Society website.


Judging

Judging is usually done by professors and industry professionals by invitation. However, if you are interested in participating in the judging process, please email the WEC Commissioner listed under Contacts.


Volunteering

We are always looking for volunteers to help out with the Waterloo Engineering Competition. Help is especially needed for the junior team design and senior team design categories.

Volunteers will be running the shop, which provides competitors with building materials. Volunteers will also occasionally monitor the competitors during their design and build stage, to ensure that the competition runs fairly.
