The Waterloo Engineering Competition (WEC) is a partnership between the Sandford Fleming Foundation and the Waterloo Engineering Society, who contribute 100% in the organizing of the WEC.

The current sponsors of WEC are listed below. Without these valued partners and sponsors, the Waterloo Engineering Competition would not be possible. Their funding goes to purchasing building materials, advertising, snacks and food, and award prizes.

Sandford Fleming Foundation

The Sandford Fleming Foundation is a not-for-profit organization associated with the Faculty of Engineering at Waterloo. Its primary objective is to foster and create an enriched academic environment for co-operative engineering students. The foundation has a national program that provides support for the following activities (and others):
  • Ontario Engineering Competition
  • Canadian Engineering Competition
  • The Wighton Fellowship
  • W. R. Petrie Engineering Design Award

Their activities are funded through student donations, endowments, and external donations.

Waterloo Engineering Society

The Engineering Society is the official organization of all engineering undergraduate students at the University of Waterloo. They exist to support students through your time at Waterloo, whether it be academically or socially. They provide academic services such as resume critiques, an online exam bank, and cheap report binding, as well as a wide variety of events throughout the term. They also represent student interests in relations with the Faculty of Engineering Administration, the Engineering Faculty Council, the Federation of Students, and student organizations of other faculties and universities.

Waterloo Engineering Endowment Foundation

WEEF stands for the Waterloo Engineering Endowment Foundation. The foundation was founded by two engineering student, Avi Belinsky and John Vellinga, in 1990. The goal of WEEF is to continuously improve the educational environment for undergraduate engineering students, and maintain our outstanding reputation.
